GOLDEN MILK
Finding comfort is essential for our nervous system. I created a powerful adaptogenic recipe for Golden Milk which is sustaining and balancing to the body and comforting to the soul. The combination of herbs and spices in this recipe help reduce inflammation, increase circulation, regulate stress, and cultivate a state of uplifted joy. It's truly perfect at any time of day.
ADAPTOGENIC GOLDEN MILK
1 cup organic whole milk or alternative (almond, oat, coconut, hemp milk, etc.)
1/2 cup filtered water
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger (or 3 slices fresh)
3/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
2 to 3 cardamom pods, cracked, or â…› teaspoon ground cardamom
pinch of ground nutmeg
pinch of sea salt
a good grind of black pepper
OPTIONAL:

1 date (pitted, soaked in warm water and mashed) or 1/2 to 1 teaspoon maple syrup to sweeten
1 teaspoon organic ghee or butter
1/2 teaspoon ashwaganda
1/2 teaspoon maca root powder (if drinking at night or sensitive to stimulation, omit maca)
1. Add the milk, water, spices, and the date, if using, to a pan and season with black pepper and whisk well.
2. Bring to the boil and then reduce to a simmer. Add ashwaganda and maca, if using. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Don’t let it bubble over! Add ghee and maple if using, mix well, and remove from heat.
3. Allow to cool a bit, strain and serve. Or don’t strain and chew the date pieces at the end!
